create much-needed space for expressive, accessible dance for adults (beyond just a workout class!)

AND start up a creative side business with it –

all with your existing dance experience, however rusty you might feel!

dance teacher training with dance again

this is way more than a dance teacher training…

The Dance Again Teacher Training is a unique dance teacher training program and business development program where you’ll receive step by step guidance and mentorship to create and launch your own dance class or other movement-related offering, so that you can:

  • make dance an active part of your life/career,

  • make income from it (if you desire),

  • and create authentic community

…no matter how much experience you have or where you live.

Unlike other dance teacher training programs that focus on one specific methodology or technique, ours helps you to take your own unique experience with dance and turn it into an offering you can share with others.

From the creative side of curriculum planning and developing your style, to breaking through the inner blocks of fear and self-consciousness, to the business side of marketing and attracting your ideal students, we will guide you through it all.

the dance again teacher training will guide you step by step to:

  • develop your unique style of dancing and teaching (even if you feel rusty, even if you feel not experienced enough, or even if you’ve trained for many years - you can refresh and redefine to be the most YOU and the most effective)

  • create dance offerings you can share with others (whether that’s classes or workshops or retreats or a small local company you can perform with?! You’ll also get clear on what exactly would be the best fit for you)

  • make dance an active part of your life and career (in a way that fuels your creativity rather than draining it)

  • make money and boost your business and marketing skills (taught from someone who has been making a self-employed living in NYC for over 10 years)

  • join a community of supportive movement people (so that you don’t have to feel alone in your process anymore)

who it’s for:

  • creative movers who don’t fit the typical mold when it comes to dance and dance teaching, but who want to hone in on their unique style and experience and turn it into something they can teach or share with others.

  • existing movement teachers (i.e. dance, pilates, yoga, etc) who want to refresh their teaching content, add dance if they don’t already teach it,  boost their confidence, and create a wider network to share their classes with.

  • those with other kinds of dance teacher training who didn’t quite “launch”... maybe because the style didn’t feel totally genuine to them, or because they didn't have the right business training aspect or marketing approach

  • dancers who don’t necessarily want to teach, but want to deepen their own practice and make moves to let dance be a bigger part of their lives in a more consistent way.

here’s your guide in dance teacher training + business development:

Hi, I’m Jess! As the founder and director of Dance Again, I have been running our classes and programs consistently since 2015. I'm also a TEDx speaker, the author of Dance With This Book, a creative coach, copywriter, former holistic health coach, and dancer/performing artist. (shout out to my fellow multi-passionate creatives!)

how I got here:

I was a holistic health coach with a thriving practice and thought that was my calling, until something in my soul told me otherwise. What started out as a creative hobby - making homemade dance videos alone in my room - has grown into a career and a community over the last 10+ years. From starting tiny workshops in a Brooklyn studio to speaking on a TEDx stage to performing in front of hundreds to seeing my homemade dance video screened at Lincoln Center, I’ve been on a mission to make dance more accessible, with an emphasis on creativity and self-expression.

I’ve produced over a dozen showcases for my students in NYC and I’m the creator of the annual Dance-a-Day in May challenge, which continues to spread each year.

I’ve also published a book, maintained my own blog since 2012, and have been coaching since 2007 in the fields of women’s health, creativity, copywriting, and business. Over that time I've supported 85+ entrepreneurs and businesses on their content, marketing strategy, and messaging, as well as 60+ individuals into successful creative paths.

My Dance Again programs and videos have helped hundreds of people in NYC and beyond to reclaim their sense of self through dance, feel at home in their bodies, and revive their creative expression.

In our changing times, I felt called to take this mission to more places and reach more communities, and so I started this teacher training, which helps you to create your own dance movement, based on YOUR unique dance story and experience.

this training incorporates everything i’ve learned from both the artistic and business side of starting a dance-based business and movement.

I've been leading the dance teacher training since 2019, and with each cohort I've updated and improved the content.

in the meantime, here’s a free resource:

for your personal dance practice

+ for the classes and experiences you lead

I've compiled some of my favorite dance prompts from my own practice and from the classes and workshops I've been leading over the last 10 years.

While this is typically only shared inside the Dance Again Teacher Training, I'd love to give you access as a preview!

what people are saying about our dance teacher training…

julie fernandez is an alum of our dance teacher training

"I signed up for the Dance Again Teacher Training because I was ready to clarify my dance voice. As a non-trained dancer, I've been hesitant to move forward with this project on my own, but I’m a mover. We’re all movers! I’m so glad that I reached out to Jess!

She helped me redefine dance for myself to create a movement program that’s inclusive to all movers - trained or not!”

~ Julie Fernandez, Los Angeles CA

marisa catena is an alum of our dance teacher training

“I signed up for the Dance Again Teacher Training because I needed guidance streamlining my ideas and understanding how to implement the business side of running a dance program.  Having worked with Jess in her other programs, I knew she had a lot of knowledge to offer, and I love the way she creates a safe space for people to come together, share ideas and express their creativity.

Thanks to the training, I created and launched Camp Create: Be Your Own Hero, a summer dance program for children ages 4-7 who are interested in using movement to access their creativity and express their individuality.

It was a gift to learn how to take my ideas and manifest them into a program that is aligned with my beliefs as a dance educator.”

    ~ Marisa Catena, Wood-Ridge NJ

carolyn gatus is an alum of our dance teacher training

“I still can’t believe and yet I DO BELIEVE IT, during my program with Jess...

i  launched my work as a coach

and i choreographed 2 pieces that were near and dear to my heart and performed these two pieces in front of a supportive audience on two separate days.

I also created a Meetup group that meets every few weeks, where men and women can gather in person or virtually to express their souls through free movement dance. I loved the fact that I was able to meld my interests in spirituality with my love of dance. I never thought that would be possible for me, and yet it became so.

most importantly, she helped me release so much of the pain and conditioning that blocked my creative flow...

and challenged me to connect deeper with my feelings and voice them through my art of dancing. I feel so much more connected to Who I Am and am a thousand times more clear in expressing my truth. The creative well was tapped open and will forever continue to flow.”

~ Carolyn Gatus, Los Angeles CA

there are spaces waiting to be filled with dance.
